It recently came to my attention that there is a theme that is much more prevalent than is commonly acknowledged: Sibling wound.
Many, including myself, talk about doing the healing around the mother/father wound, yet the sibling wound isn’t mentioned much.
Not sure why, but it’s really come on to my radar in the past few months.
I’ve got some clients: Maria, Wendy, John, and Sandy, whose older siblings had a lot of control over them when they were little, and it continued into adulthood. They had a lot to say about how their sibling should be, think, say, do, not do, a lot of judgment, sexual abuse (way too common), simply not giving them the freedom to be themselves. The parents didn’t interject, protect, or discourage as one would have hoped.
There can also be estrangement due to a sibling being unhealthy or unsafe to be around, especially if you are an HSP/empath.
And as I always say and teach, everybody’s soul creates the scenarios where it can be forged, grow, and evolve.
It’s happening FOR you, not TO you.
If you are willing to work with the sibling wound, just like any other area, there can be so much growth, especially since it’s family, as they are our greatest teachers!
For example:
Learning to hold strong, healthy boundaries
Learn to courageously express your truth
Discovering what YOU want/like/desire vs what your sibling dictated
Releasing their projections/hold on you
Taking space from them even if it ‘disrupts’ what the family would like
Healing the trauma of this unhealthy relationship
Take up space
And so much more…
Here for you if you need support in this area.
