With Thanksgiving happening for us tomorrow, it’s always a good reminder of how powerful the energy of gratitude is.
The huge breaking down of the old to create the new is still very much happening on earth.
Most of us have something that is challenging at the moment
But despite that, and even more importantly, if you can create a daily gratitude practice, that will be most helpful during these tumultuous times.
Here are five suggestions:
You could team up with a friend/s to share 3 or 5 heart felt gratitudes with each other via text or email. As you share, really feel the gratitude in your heart and body. Try to tap into things that have happened in the past 24hrs, i.e.: I am grateful for the sunshine on my face as I hiked in nature. This will help train your mind to find positive experiences daily.
If you want to do it alone, before bed, replay 1-2 experiences you had that day. Feel, sense, savor with gratitude. This reinforces positive memory pathways and reduces stress before sleep.
Of course, there is the gratitude journal, if you like to write. Jot down 3-5 experiences that you are grateful for in the past 24 hrs.
Gratitude for your senses. Stop at any point in your day and identify: One thing you can see, hear, feel, smell and taste. Give gratitude for each sensation. This grounds you in the present moment and reduces anxiety
And my favorite is upon waking, I stay in my bed and combine gratitude with breath work. Find a rhythm that works for you, i.e.: 3 breaths in, 3 out, 4 in, 4 out, 5 in, 6 out. As you inhale or exhale, bring to mind a moment in the past 24hrs. that you are grateful for. Feel it in your body. You can do this for 5 -10 mins. Set a timer.
And on that note, wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends.
Grateful to have you as part of my community!
