Auto-immune Goes Hand in Hand with Putting Yourself Last

I was blown away by what I learned recently when I listened to Gabor Maté on a podcast. He has done much work and research in trauma, addiction & mental health.

What caught my ear was that 80% of autoimmune diseases occur in women.

Plus Maté discovered there are four distinct characteristics that most of the women with autoimmune disease have.

When I heard the list, my mouth dropped open, and dots connected. The four characteristics are the same areas I spend so much time working with my clients to create a new way…a new way of honoring themselves, their needs, wants, and desires.

Ready? Here are the 4 characteristics:

  • Tend to put other people’s emotional needs ahead of their own and ignore their own
  • Tend to identify with duty, role, and responsibility rather than the needs of self
  • Tend to be very nice, so they repressed healthy anger. Healthy anger is a boundary defense.
  • Tend to believe they are responsible for the feelings of other people and that they should never disappoint anybody.

He tied this back to when you don’t say ‘no’ and constantly take on stress, your own and others, you stress out the immune system hence autoimmune. Plus if you repress healthy anger and your emotions, you quell your immune system.

And then another dot connected when Maté shared: It’s not a gender issue, it’s a cultural issue. It’s so much of the programming that women receive.

It’s not a gender issue, it’s a cultural issue.

This is why I’m all about the divine feminine rising through womb awakening! The womb is the seat of a woman’s power, voice, intuition, desires, boundaries, abundance, energy and so much more.

In support of women healing and learning to fill their cups first, I’m very excited to share about our next Women’s Plant Medicine Retreat. It’s happening March 14-16 in Taos, NM: Inner Womb Bloom: Blossoming Into Your Magnetic Feminine Power.

Ladies, if you can relate to any of those four characteristics, consider joining us in March for the Inner Womb Bloom Retreat. Click to learn more.

The change starts within…within the womb.
