Have you ever tried doing breathwork exercises? In many languages, the word ‘breath’ translates into the word ‘Spirit.’ In yoga, meditation and other spiritual paths, the breath is a central focus for many practices. Learning a few simple breathing techniques is a great way to self-soothe, clear anxiety, shift energy blocks and increase your energy.
Here is simple exercise to calm your nervous system. You can do this wherever you are, standing, sitting or laying down.
- Breathe in through your nose for the count of eight.
- Hold your breath to the count of eight.
- Exhale through your nose to the count of eight.
- Hold empty to the count of eight.
Repeat as necessary until you feel calm and peaceful. If eight seconds is too long for you, use a shorter time – this exercise should be comfortable to do.
